Agartala, Apr 25 (FD) The stage is all set for poling in the Tripura East parliamentary constituency on Friday.
As many as 13, 96,761 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the constituency, of which 7, 02,511 are males, 6,94,237 females, and 13 are transgender people.
The returning officer, Saju Vaheed, said that adequate security measures had been taken to ensure a free, fair and peaceful voting in all the 1,664 polling centers in the Tripura East constituency.
He said the polling officials had completed a mock poll and inducted micro-observers.
“Moreover, webcasting was set up in all polling centers, meetings with different political parties were held and awareness campaigns were performed among the voters for peace full elections and police patrolling was stepped up” the RO said.
He said vigil along the international border between India and Bangladesh was tightened to avoid any untoward incident.
The RO said, all polling parties have already left for polling booths with EVMs and VVPATs.
Altogether nine candidates are in the fray but the main battle will be between BJP candidate, Kriti Singh Debbarma and CPI-M candidate Rajendra Reang
